What is Friends of BIFS?
To keep alive the collective experience of watching a film and chatting about it after,
Friends of BIFS will meet on a monthly basis to see the best of World Cinema showing in Brighton.
The Friends of BIFS is a mailing list group that will comprise of not only previous BIFS members but also others who may be interested in getting involved. If you wish to be put on this mailing list then please email us at info@brightoninternationalfilmsociety.org. Also as some of the email addresses we have for previous BIFS members and regulars are no longer valid, please email us with your new details if you want to join FoB.
Although BIFS will co-ordinate the mailing list, you can use it to contact the rest of FoB to organize social cinema visits, provide information about future events or just sound off about the last film you saw.

What is BIFS?
BIFS is a film society located in Brighton & Hove.We organise screenings of films that are not easily seen or available, including globally diverse films that give an insight into different cultures, politics and perspectives from around the world. Crucially, after each film we meet for a post-film discussion led by a guest speaker, because we believe that to watch a film without discussing its merits is to enjoy only half the film experience.
To read more about our aims, read our manifesto.
|
When and where do we meet?
BIFS screenings will normally be held on the first Wednesday of each month 6.30pm at the Duke of York's Picturehouse. Check our programme for up to date information on screenings and times. The post-film discussion, led by invited speakers, will now be upstairs at Circus, Circus, just over the road from the Picturehouse. We are also hoping to expand the number of venues we use in future.
